Passionate Fires (Digital Score & Parts)
Passionate Fires (2024)
Grade 4 | ~5:30
Program Notes:
My musical journey actually starts in 5th grade with the violin, however that didn’t last very long as, to be honest, I thought it was very boring (sorry violinists reading a band score). In 6th grade I decided to join band and started to play clarinet. I stayed through middle school but in 8th grade I almost quit. My dad, being a great musician and former band student, convinced me to stay and give him at least one year in high school. That year changed my life. I fell in love with music and the band world and eventually started writing and here I am now! Once I knew I was writing something for my high school, I wanted to write something as a thank you to my directors for helping me find the passion I now have for music, and I wanted the music to also represent that “burning” passion (hence the name). The piece is in ABA form with the A being the “burning” and the B being the “passion” This piece is dedicated to the band directors that I’ve worked with, and to all band directors in the world, for igniting the passion for music in many students like myself.
